Parkside Teacher to Receive Excellence in Teaching Award

The Penn-Delco School District would like to congratulate Maureen Irving on her recent recognition as a Delaware County Excellence in Teaching Award recipient.  Maureen is a first grade teacher at Parkside Elementary School.

When she’s not guiding her students in thoughtful and creative lessons, Maureen can be found leading Parkside’s student council members in several charitable activities.  Maureen is also known throughout the district for her kindness and positive attitude.  Her co-workers describe her as generous and caring and constantly dedicated to her students.

Mrs. Teresa Ford, Parkside elementary Principal noted, “Mrs. Irving is a devoted educator with over twenty five years of experience at Parkside Elementary School.  She is a thoughtful communicator with a reassuring presence who puts first grade parents at ease. Frequently, Mrs. Irving can be found after hours in her classroom calling parents to let them know about their child’s fabulous day. She has also been known to check in with parents over the weekend if a student has been ill. Authentic passion for children and learning is tangible with Mrs. Irving.  Parkside Elementary parents would wholeheartedly agree that she is deserving of this award.”

The Delaware County Excellence in Teaching Award recognizes outstanding and dedicated teachers in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union created this award in 2007 in partnership with Delaware County Intermediate Unit.

Recipients of this award receive $500 and a commemorative keepsake. The recipient’s school also receives a $1000 award.

All recipients will be honored at Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union’s Partners in Learning Celebration on April 28, 2016 and recognized in an edition of the Delaware County Daily Times.
